I was excited but also a little nervous because I had never made a cheesecake before.  To my surprise, although it was my very first time making it - it turned out wonderfully.  From that day forward, I began making cheesecakes for family, friends, holidays, birthdays, parties, social events, and as gifts.

Recently, Ndeye told me that many, many years ago I had made a cheesecake for her.  I had blessed her with one of my delectable cheesecakes is the way she put it.  I had forgotten that, but she had not.  Moments like that remind me that food has a way of creating memories that last a lifetime.

For years, people have encouraged me to sell my cheesecakes, but I just took that as flattery.  About two years ago, Sensi Smith challenged me to stop thinking about it and to actually build the business under his tutelage at Spectacular Academy.  That encouragement became the beginning of Cheesecakes by Mari.

Today, I'm finally sharing with the world what family and friends have enjoyed for four decades.

Every cheesecake is made with care, quality ingredients, and a desire to bring people together.  My hope is that every bite brings joy, comfort, and creates a special memory for you and your family.

As this business grows, I also hope to use its success to help others. One cause that is especially close to my heart is supporting the construction of clean-water wells in villages in South Africa.  Being able to share both great cheesecake and hope with others would be one of my greatest blessings; making this Cheesecakes that Cares, setting it apart from others.
